Poiana Țapului, formerly a spa resort with its own administration, is now a neighborhood of Bușteni. Historically rich, it was humorously nicknamed “the capital of Romania” during Emil Constantinescu’s presidency. The area is notable for its connection to Romania's monarchy, as it housed a small residence of Prince Ferdinand before his coronation as King of Romania. This residence is located on the national road in the area.

Cascada Urlătoare

From Poiana Țapului, the trail to Urlătoarea Waterfall begins, leading to one of the most beautiful and impressive waterfalls in the Romanian mountains. The route is easy, accessible in both summer and winter, and marked with a blue circle.

Starting from "Cascada – Camere de închiriat", the distance to Urlătoarea is 2 kilometers along a forest road. At the end of this road, a short ascent is required.

The trail takes about an hour to complete, reaching an altitude of 1,100 meters.

Zamora

The picturesque hill located on the opposite side of the national road from the Bucegi Mountains, Zamora – Poiana Țapului, offers idyllic settings for peaceful walks along the Prahova River, surrounded by a true mountain landscape. Zamora is considered the sunniest area in Poiana Țapului and Bușteni.

Additionally, on Zamora Hill, between 1941 and 1942, Lucrețiu Pătrășcanu, a left-wing intellectual who later became a victim of the communist regime after the war, was under house arrest. During this time, he completed the writing of his book “Sub 3 dictaturi” (Under Three Dictatorships), which had multiple editions, including one published in February 1946 by L’Horizon International in Paris.

The grave of Dr. Kremnitz, the personal physician of King Ferdinand

The Kremnitz family monument, including the grave of Dr. Kremnitz—personal physician to King Ferdinand—was recently relocated to the park in Poiana Țapului. Local folklore suggests that Mite Kremnitz, a muse and lover of Romanian national poet Mihai Eminescu, is also buried here. Mite was a lady-in-waiting to Queen Elisabeth and the sister-in-law of Titu Maiorescu. Her husband, Wilhelm Kremnitz, served as the personal doctor to King Ferdinand.

Originally, the monument was situated at the upper end of Nicolae Bălcescu Street (the same street where "Cascada – Camere de Închiriat" is located), in a small clearing by the river.

This historical site highlights the intertwined legacies of Romanian cultural figures and the royal family.
